Some people fill this world with terror and destruction. Some never leave any kind of mark at all on it. Then there are others. The ones who hit this world with a light so bright, it’s impossible to miss. Alan Rickman was one of those people.
Today this world lost someone who made people laugh. Who had incredible talent and touched so many lives. Someone who brought characters to life in a way that was completely his own. When I first saw him in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Die Hard, I knew that any movie with this actor in it would be amazing. And he never disappointed.
J.K. Rowling once stated “We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all the power we need inside ourselves already,” and I feel this couldn’t have been truer regarding Alan Rickman.
I’ve always wanted to meet him, this man who could make me love a villain. Who had perfect comedic timing when needed in scenes, and open, heartbreaking sincerity in others. He filled my childhood and teenage years with a certain magic, no matter what role he was in. I can’t believe there will never be another movie with him in it.
Rest in peace, Alan Rickman. The world is a better place because you were here, and you will live on forever in hearts all over this world.
